The history of computers – How Computer was Evaluate in Our Life
Before the invention of the computer, humans used sticks and stones to count. According to history of Computers followings Devices were not very helpful to perform advanced mathematical operations.
We’re discussing history of computer to know more about its invention and upgrades:
1- Abacus
Invented By : China (Around 4000 years Ago)
It is supposedly the first computer. The history of computers began with the development of the abacus. Abacus is just a hardwood rack with bead-mounted metal rods. The abacus operator would move the beads within the device in accordance with predetermined rules to complete mathematical computations. The abacus is still in use in several nations, such as China, Russia, and Japan.
2- Napier’s Bones
Invented By : John Napier (1617)
John Napier created the Napier’s Bones, a manually operated calculator. He divided and multiplied using nine distinct ivory bones (strips), each of which had a number on it. As per history of Computers, It was also the first gadget to use the decimal point method for computations.
3- Pascaline
Invented By : Blaise Pascal (1642)
Another name for it is an arithmetic machine or an adding machine. French mathematician and philosopher Blaise Pascal developed first mechanical and automated calculator device between 1642 and 1644. Pascal created it to assist his father, a tax accountant, with calculations or tasks. It could quickly conduct addition and subtraction. It was essentially a wooden box with a number of wheels and gears inside. A number of windows are provided on top of the wheels to read the totals. It works by spinning wheels so that when one wheel turns one revolution, it spins the next wheel.

4- Stepped Reckoner or Leibniz wheel
Invented By : Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (1673)
In 1673, a German mathematician-philosopher named Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz improved Pascal’s design to create this machine. It was essentially a digital mechanical calculator, and it was known as the stepped reckoner because it was built of fluted drums rather than gears (as in the preceding Pascaline type).
5- Difference Engine
Invented By : Charles Babbage (1820)
Early in the 1820s, Charles Babbage—also referred to as the “Father of the Modern Computer”—designed the Difference Engine. Basic mathematical calculations might be performed using a mechanical computer known as the Difference Engine. It utilizes steam to operate since it was a steam-powered calculator with the ability to compute numerical tables like logarithm tables.
6- Analytical Engine
Invented By : Charles Babbage (1830)
Analytical Engine was yet another calculator that Charles Babbage created in 1830. Punch cards were utilized as input by the mechanical computer known as the Analytical Engine. It has the ability to carry out or solve any mathematical operation and keep data in a permanent memory (storage).
7- Tabulating Machine
Invented By : Herman Hollerith (1890)
This device was created in 1890 by American statistician Herman Hollerith. Punch cards served as the basis for the mechanical tabulator known as the Tabulating Machine. It may record or organize data or information and tabulate statistics. In the year 1890, the U.S. Census employed this device. Hollerith founded the Hollerith’s Tabulating Machine Company, which eventually changed its name to International Business Machine (IBM) in 1924.

8- Mark I
Invented By : John Von Neumann (1944)
When Howard Aiken decided to build a machine that could perform huge computations or calculations involving large numbers, the history of computers saw significant developments that year. The Mark I computer was created in 1944 as a joint venture between IBM and Harvard. Additionally, it was the first digital computer that could be programmed, ushering in a new age for computers.
